Weight
As of last Sunday, he weighed 5 lbs 4oz and was eating all his food on his own. Since then, we've had our first pediatrician appointment--he was 5lbs 11 oz at that time, on Wednesday, and the Dr is very pleased with his growth.
Outings
Because it's still before his original due date, we're not supposed to take him out in public. They just don't think he's ready to figh
t off germs. Once he's reached his due date, we can make shopping trips to the store, but avoid areas with tons of kids.
Sleeping
Him: sleeping pretty well. We've had 2 long nights where he just wouldn't sleep. But for the most part, he sleeps between 3-4 hours in the night. Dr says we can't let him go longer than 4 hours without eating, so he's sleeping up to his maximum.
Us: We're getting better at not waking up to his every sound. We know what his different squawks mean. And really, they're mostly varying degrees of "I'm hungry" or "I have gas."
Food
He's on breast milk (mainly fed through bottle) that is fortified with some extra calories (special formula). He's taking about 70 cc per feeding, which equates to about 2 oz.
Pets
Rupert has become very protectiv
e of Grady. He likes to sleep in the area between our two bedrooms so he knows what's going on everywhere. Also, we've noticed that he'll lay down next to whoever is holding the baby--again protecting him. Clancy, however, has been a pain. Twice I've caught him in Grady's room--although Grady hasn't been in there. He's on his 8th life as it is so hopefully he learns quickly to stay out of the baby's room.
Work
Justin took all of last week off and will also be home next week. Our days aren't exactly exciting, but at least we're all together as a family.
Visitors
A few friends from Salem have been up to visit--Kelly, Jenny and Caleb. Caleb's the one who built us the crib. Tomorrow Lynda, Gary and Amante (Justin's parents and niece) come for a few days. Then in April my Mom, Gary and brother Travis and his family are coming for a few days. Really, any opportunity we have to show the little guy off :)
