Strangely, time has flown by. It's been 11 days now in the hospital, whereas we originally thought I'd be here for just a few. Baby's is doing well. His heart rate is very good, active, and he tolerates the occasional contractions well.
Today was supposed to be 'the' day that we would know more information and develop a plan. It was a complicated day and we went from having a plan, to having no plan, to again having a plan all in a couple of hours.
Long story short, baby has shown a little growth. Instead of being in the less than 1st percentile, he's now in the 4th percentile. It's great that he's growing, but the Dr was quick to remind me that there is still something wrong-babies aren't supposed to be this small and that he's positive that at this stage, the baby will grow better on the outside than on the inside. On Wednesday, I'll be 36 weeks and at that time, they'll retest for lung maturity. Assuming the lungs are mature, we'll deliver on Thursday! If the lungs are not mature, we move into plan B, which hasn't been set yet :) The Dr. thinks though, that they'll be mature.
So, we may have a baby before the week's out afterall.
Justin and I feel good knowing baby is doing well and that we now have a plan. It's a relief to see an end in sight and that the outcome is so good. Afterall, we'll have a healthy, growing baby.
We want to thank all of you for your thoughts, emails, phone calls, prayers etc. It was very comforting to know all the friends and family out there pulling for us. It meant a lot.
More to come on Wednesday. Send another wave of good thoughts our way--in hoping his lungs are developed.
My dinner just came. Grilled Cheese. Yum.
:)
Bye for now,
Stacia
